At Pacific Occ Med, we offer a wide range of Occupational Medicine specialist services

Whether you're an employer, healthcare provider, regulator, or legal professional,
our team of experienced doctors and consultants is here to support safe, healthy, and sustainable work.

Independent Medical Examinations (IME)

Our team deliver the Gold Standard of Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs). An IME is an impartial assessment, conducted by qualified medical professionals to provide an objective opinion on an individual’s health status in relation to their work.

Employers, insurers, or legal representatives often request these assessments when clarification is needed regarding medical issues affecting employment, rehabilitation, or compensation.

Each assessment involves a comprehensive review of medical history and relevant documentation, and a clinical examination. A detailed, evidence-based report is then provided, offering clear conclusions and actionable recommendations.

Such assessments are frequently sought in cases where medical clarity is essential to inform decisions about work capacity, treatment planning, or legal outcomes.

Fitness for work medicals and consultancy

We have a team of doctors specialising in Occupational Medicine, providing expert assessments for fitness to work after injury or illness, along with ongoing clinical care. Most referrals come from organisations needing support for safe return-to-work decisions.

We also accept referrals from lawyers for Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) and Independent Impairment Assessments (IIAs).

Workplace Assessments & Intervention Programmes

Our Occupational Medicine specialists can visit your workplace to assess a worker’s fitness if they have a health issue. For example, we may assess a worker with vision issues who operates heavy machinery to ensure their safety and ability to perform their job.

Diving Assessments

Our in-house expert, Dr Rajib Ghosh, is registered nationwide as a Designated Diving Doctor under WorkSafe New Zealand.

We provide WorkSafe-approved DDD medical examinations for commercial and occupational divers across New Zealand, assessing cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological and ENT health to determine fitness for the specific physiological demands of diving.

Services include initial and periodic commercial diving medicals, fitness for work certification, review of dive-related conditions, and compliant medical clearance documentation.

We support commercial, civil and construction divers, scientific and research divers, aquaculture and marine workers, and employers requiring certified dive medical clearance.

All assessments are thorough, timely and aligned with current WorkSafe standards.
